Youth Ministry
PU
PURPOSE
Youth Ministry (popularly called Adventist Youth Ministry) is a specialized ministry of the global Adventist Church and is the foundation for youth ministry in Seventh-day Adventist churches. The program seeks to address the particular needs, development and challenges of young people, 16 – 35 years of age, in their own environment, with the aim to respond to them as they are, incorporate them into the fellowship of the church and fostering for them, within the church, a caring Christian community. By way of its sub ministries – Pathfinders, Adventurers, Young Ambassadors – its mission is to involve and engage with young people who attend Adventist places of worship including those who live within the church’s local community.

PROGRAM & ACTIVITIES
By way of its various sub ministries, which are designed to emphasize the development and unique needs of each particular age group, the youth ministry nurtures and empowers its young members, not only by its local programing and activities but also via worldwide youth ministries programs and activities as global youth activities including camporees, international youth conferences and oversees ministries specific to age groups, training and so much more. These sub ministries are (i) Adventurers Club which is a club for children ages 6 to 9, with 1 million members worldwide. (ii). Pathfinders Club with 2 million members, which is for young people ages 10 to 15. (iii) The Ambassador Group strives to meet the spiritual, social and lifestyle needs of those from 16 into their 20s. (iv) The Adventist Youth Society—created by youth for youth more than 125 years ago—now links 10 million youth on every continent of the globe. All these sub ministries share a common goal – training youth for service to God and humanity.

According to the global Youth Ministry program

The Youth Ministries department mission statement reflects its emphasis on service and its confidence in the abilities of the younger generation: “To lead young people into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ and help them embrace His call to discipleship.

”The Seventh-day Adventist Church focuses on youth because it is indebted to them for its beginnings and it depends on them for its future.

PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS
The heads of each sub ministry and immediate supporting staff are elected by the local church with the responsibility of implementing the global youth ministry programs and activities as well as local program and activities specific to the church’s in reach and out-reach goals. Volunteers must complete a yearly background check and are encouraged to attend local or global leadership development programs, activities or training. At the local church level there is a strong emphasis of developing future leaders for the church’s ministries. Accordingly there is the realization that “Young people form a precious, most important part of God’s church. They are not only the “church of the future,” but also the church of the present.”

AGE GROUPS
As mentioned previously the ministry caters to specific age groups by way of its sub ministries namely the
1. The Adventurer Club  – open to all families of children in grades pre-kindergarten – 4 (kids ages 4-9) and sponsored globally by the world church and the local church. Through the Adventurer Program, the church, home, and school can work together with the parent to develop a mature, happy child.
2. Pathfinders Club – a worldwide organization of young people sponsored locally and globally by the Seventh-day Adventist Church at the global and local level. The program is open to young people of any religious persuasion, or none at all. Young people of any persuasion are welcome and encouraged to join the organization. It invites children of ages 10-15 to Enlarge their windows to the world and build a relationship with God.
Young Adults – the story of the Adventist Youth Society began over 125 years ago along a dusty country lane in Michigan with two young boys kneeling in prayer. Their prayer began the birth of the Adventist Youth Ministrry catering to the ages 21-30+
